This module provides a comprehensive understanding of the AVS-01 Alarm Validation Scoring Standard, focusing on the procedures for handling and scoring alarm events. Designed for monitoring center operators, it aims to enhance communication with Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) and improve the accuracy and efficiency of alarm event classification. Another term still used for ECCs is Public Safety Answering Point or PSAP. In this module we will use the term ECC throughout to reference ECCs and PSAPs.

The AVS-01 process will help you classify information for the ECC telecommunicator with the goal of helping law enforcement with situational awareness and prioritizing Calls for Service. This module will review the alarm event handling process in more detail to help you understand the escalation and de-escalation process.

Instructions:

  6. At the end of the module, you must pass the Final Assessment with a score of at least 85% to complete the course (17 out of 20 questions).
